RECREATIVOS FEDERICO, by Álex Peña (programme summary!)

17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 nov | During the centre’s opening hours | Centre de les Arts Lliures - Fundació Joan Brossa (BCN) | Buy tickets |

A space of play, humour, irony and poetry inhabited by the figure of the Granada-born poet and playwright Federico García Lorca.

Starting from the premise that when artistic heritage becomes a souvenir, dramatic literature turns into a game, Recreativos Federico (Federico’s Arcade) presents a composition of seven arcade and consumer machines inspired by Federico García Lorca’s works and their context: “La grúa de Bernarda Alba”, “Bolas de sangre”, “Yerma La nuit”, “Amor de Don Perlimplín con Belisa en su futbolín”, “Así que pasen 5 euros”, “Las Sin Sombrero” and “Cadaqués Invaders”. A critical, playful and poetic installation centred on the figure of Federico García Lorca.

Alex Peña (Alicante / Seville) is a theatre maker and actor with an advanced degree in Dramatic Art from Seville. He coined the term “exodrama”, a theatrical language that creates performances from contexts that do not directly belong to the work on which the action is based. An exodramatic piece is conceptually situated in a layer outside the original work, while remaining connected to it in the same way that an exoskeleton is connected to a skeleton. His practice is characterised by a strong critical perspective, the presence of humour, visual poetry and experimentation with new formats.

Artist-led visits:
Saturday, 21 November at 12 pm, 1:30 pm and 6 pm.
Sunday, 22 November at 12 pm and 1:30 pm.
