Dancing a slow dance with an absent body, installing miniature grand pianos that dispense peanuts, trying to disappear behind and in front of a transparent folding screen, and installing flexible, soft neon lights. Melancholy and absurdity are closely intertwined through awkward gestures and sound compositions, leading up to those final three minutes of naked rap: rap wearing a suit made of transparent adhesive tape. Xavier Michel will adapt the piece Jrap à Poil for the occasion.

Presented in collaboration with 4X4, a performance and performing arts series taking place at Sala Taro between October and December. The programme showcases works in development, aiming to highlight creative processes and bring them closer to audiences.

Xavier Michel lives and works in Barcelona. He holds a master’s degree in engineering and studied Fine Arts and scenography at Pavillon Bosio and later at Villa Arson in Nice. His performance practice explores narrative territories through experimentation and the manipulation of sculptural systems produced in the studio. Their activation generates micro-narratives in which the body acts as an interface, revealing other ways of relating to the world. Moving between circus and choreographic writing, he develops a poetic and sensitive language that questions our relationship with spectacle.
