LIFE AND DEATH OF DR. FAUSTUS, by Colectivo Patillas Black

27 nov | 20 h | Lo Social | INSCRIPCIONS |

Doctor Faustus, shut away among potions and manuscripts, summons Mephistopheles during a sleepless night: a wicked, gallant little devil. A game of strategy begins between them, culminating in the famous pact with the devil: an existential deal of life or death that drives Doctor Faustus to embark on the arduous path of individuation — the journey towards himself. Written by Christopher Marlowe (1592), and directed and adapted for puppet theatre by Colectivo Patillas Black.

Colectivo Patillas Black is a theatre company of dubious origins and abundant hairiness. It devotes itself to puppetry, grotesque characters and other forms of stage life that are difficult to classify. Its shows blend puppets, deformities, absurd humour and the nagging suspicion that something has gone wrong. It seeks no answers. Nor does it ask questions. It seeks a sideburn, a puppet and, if possible, an emergency exit.

(Colectivo Patillas Black can also be found on the last Friday of every month at La Social bookshop, a place where, amid a sea of books, these and many other wonders unfold.)
