IF BARCELONA
IF Barcelona is a platform whose main goal is to foster and give visibility to the world of visual, object, and puppet theatre in all its forms.
It is not a once-a-year festival concentrated in a specific venue, but rather a network of interconnected activities that feed into one another and aim to promote research, creation, and dissemination of performances, installations, and events that explore the intersection between performing arts, visual arts, and anthropology, embodied by puppetry and object theatre.
For this reason, IF Barcelona presents a range of forward-looking initiatives, with a keen focus on cutting-edge stage forms, generating artistic outcomes of great aesthetic and conceptual value that help deepen our understanding of contemporary reality.
IF Barcelona was founded in 2015, with an academic symposium at the Institut del Teatre, the publication of the book Figures del Desdoblament, a large exhibition, and a programme of international performances at the Arts Santa Mònica centre in Barcelona.
IF Barcelona arises from the founding purpose of the Associació Interseccions: to build a solid context for creation, research, and training in the fields of visual theatre, puppetry, and object performance.
This vocation, far from being confined to a single format, has evolved into a set of interrelated initiatives that, through continuous dialogue, constitute an open platform for experimentation and contemporary reflection.
Over time, this structure has taken shape around three main projects that give it coherence and purpose: the IF Barcelona Festival, the Teixidores thought and professional exchange days, and the expanded programme Objectes Perduts.
