DARK TIMES, by David Espinosa (premiere)
This piece is the stage derivation of the research project The Amazing Shadow Man, a study on the concept of shadow, both from a formal and content perspective.
David Espinosa’s intention is to deepen the creation of meaning through the relationships between object, light, space, time, and sound, going beyond conventional theatrical representation. It is an attempt to give depth to the shadow—and to the symbol. Visual poetry in motion. The shadow of time in shadowy times.
Based in Barcelona, Espinosa has been creating performances and interactive installations since 2007, moving between theatre, dance, and visual arts. He holds a degree in Textual Interpretation from ESAD Valencia (1998) and has further trained in contemporary dance, improvisation, and capoeira in Valencia, Brussels, and Barcelona. He has worked as a performer with creators such as Àlex Rigola, Sergi Faustino, Mal Pelo, Les Malqueridas, Osmosis cie. (France), Lapsus – Alexis Eupierre, Sònia Gómez / General Elèctrica, Paul Weibel, and Carles Alberola, among others.
Since 2006, he has created and directed—either solo or in collaboration with other artists—works such as Teatre Caca (2021), Carrer Ombra (2020), Conferència Espectacular (2019), Una Història Universal (2018), Much Ado About Nothing (2014), La meva Gran Obra (2012), Desconcert núm. 1 per a teclat i fracassat (2011), Felicidad.es (2009), Deliriosdegrandez@ (2007), and Propietat Privada (2006). He has also developed interactive installations including El Tríptic (2017), La Trista Figura (2015), and Hekinah Degul (2013).
