MELODAMA. “The Revenge of a Russian Orphan”, by Eugenio Navarro, Martí Doy and Jordi Prat i Coll
Melodama tells the story of Sophie, an orphaned young woman who lives with her aunt and has yet to experience love. When she believes she has finally found it, she falls into the trap of infatuation and allows herself to be seduced by someone rather unsuitable. Ignoring her aunt’s advice, she decides to take a risk and live her own life.
Thus begins a long journey that leads her to loneliness and a failed suicide attempt that will mark her existence forever. It is a path of self-discovery filled with uncertainties, twists, and contradictions, with the presence of a love as passionate as it is ill-timed serving as the backdrop.
