SAETA, by Javier Aranda / Objectes Perduts (Expanded Programming IF Barcelona)
A saeta is heard, a crown of white flowers lies on stage, someone appears carrying a coffin, and the voice of a spirit resounds… Everything collapses — nothing is as it seems in this comic tragedy.
The game of theatre allows us to become what we are not, to inhabit unknown places and times, and to live experiences beyond our own reality. For this to happen, we must tear down our boundaries, let ourselves be carried by the current of play, and flow with it to its tragic end.
In an homage to theatre in all its forms, this piece reflects on the actor’s role, the profound meaning of their craft, the essence of theatre, and the way it intertwines with life itself. The characters exist only there, in that space and at that moment; and just as the actor gives life to the characters, it is they who sustain the play — an eternal reminder of the interdependence between creator, creation, and the living act of theatre.
