MAPA CANÍBAL, de Maria Camila Sanjinés

15 nov | 12 h | La Capsa | Buy tickets |

Mapa Caníbal is a site-specific piece that combines performance, territorial research and relational art through a participatory lecture. The project transforms cartography into an edible map, inviting the audience to literally consume the territory while reflecting on food and cultural identity.

The work uses gastronomy as a symbolic tool to examine historical processes of colonisation, dynamics of gentrification, self-sufficiency strategies and the right to housing. Through this act of “territorial consumption”, the piece explores the mechanisms through which landscapes are appropriated and reveals the political dimension of culinary traditions, tracing the migratory processes that shape both tastes and people within a territory.

This piece is part of the [L’A X L] programme, five days of live arts programming in El Prat de Llobregat, featuring works jointly presented by La Capsa and Teatre L’Artesà that cross disciplines and formats.

Maria Camila Sanjinés (Bogotá) is a visual and performing artist and art therapist. Her work explores identity, migration and territory through ceramics, drawing and performance. Mapa Caníbal is part of her map trilogy, alongside Mapa Brut (2026) and Mapa líquid (2024), in which territory becomes edible, malleable and watercolourable. Her work has been exhibited at Fundació Joan Brossa (Barcelona), Bòlit (Girona), Museu de la Garrotxa (Olot), Teatre Lliure (Barcelona), Firatàrrega (Tàrrega), L’appartement 22 (Rabat), Sismògraf (Olot), ARCO (Madrid), ARTLIMA (Lima), ARTBO (Bogotá) and White Box Gallery (New York).
