C.U.L., by Escarlata Circus
When objects decide to write the piece and reveal themselves, stepping out of their comfort zone to play at being others, they show us the latency they carry within. The story fills with waiting, transition, and transformation—a three-dimensionality that art also demands.
Perhaps we are not aware, but humans are also full of latency, and dusting off that inner creature and daring to keep playing might make us happier and more universal. Let us then play with time, space, and the emotion of magnifying small things, while we ourselves become small.
Bet Miralta: if she were an animal, she would be an octopus; long hands, alert head, and a mind passionate for the pursuit of beauty and integrity. The Escarlata engine.
Jordi Aspa: tamer of latent states and seeker of domestic poetry. An Escarlata member since the company’s origins. Various artistic somersaults across different fields and formats.
Marc Villanueva: minimalist of depths, playwright of facts, and sketcher of sentences, has seasoned and provoked some of the latent “dishes” in the piece.
Jorge Dutor: juggler of sewing needles, colorful threads, buttons, and patterns. Created the costumes representing dormant latency.
Jou Serra: trainer of photons, protons, and neutrons; paints the architecture of stage skeletons, bodies, and objects.
